Master Kim Yong Ho, 9th Dan, student of Grand Master Uhm Woon Kyu, President of the Chung Do Kwan as well as President of the Kukkiwon, commenced Kim Chung Do Kwan in the UK in 1991. Its members were made up of Chung Do Kwan based black belts and Master Kim taught them in-depth martial arts knowledge and techniques.
On the 17th February 2001, Master Ron Brennan, 6th Dan, was promoted to Chief Instructor of Kim Chungdokwan UK and the Kwan (club) was opened up to kup grade students, making Kim Chung Do Kwan UK, Master Kim Yong Ho’s own club within Great Britain.
In 2001 Master Kim lived in Darlington, North East England, for almost a year and taught Kim Chung Do Kwan students. During this time he introduced his very own Pal Jung Do poomsae and the more advanced Pal Mudo Poomsae. Master Kim’s Poomsaes are all based on oriental philosophy and medicine and incorporate not only Taekwondo techniques but advanced energy (Ki) control exercises. He also produced the World Taekwonmudo Academy Manual/Book indicating the in-depth philosophy, breath control and techniques incorporated within the Pal Jung Do Poomsae.
In 2009 Master Kim Yong Ho returned to South Korea to take up important positions within Taekwondo for the furtherance of the true Martial Art way. He regularly visits England and still to this day gets on the floor and teaches seminars.
Currently Kim Chung Do Kwan teach the original Chung Do Kwan way passed down by Grand Master Kim Yong Ho. Katey Wallace, 5th Dan, is a professional Kim Chung Do Kwan instructor and is ensuring that Master Kim’s teachings are being passed onto the next generation of Taekwondo practitioners.
